Beauty of the Night

Luna Moth

Luna Moth

Dream now until daylight wanes

Pale green beauty of the night

Soon you rise on silken wings

To consummate your mating flight.

  1. Beautiful moth, and I love your poem too! I still haven’t taken the time to look at your mid-life women’s retreat. I hope I can find the email still. I’ve just been so busy. I can’t wait to get home.

Breathtaking, Annette. And the words just right. You are back in my reader btw. I unfollowed and re-followed. So that’s good.

Beautiful! My daughter just recently came across one of these while sitting in a drivethru waiting on her order. She jumped out of her car to take a photo, lol.

    • We were sitting on a restaurant porch when I discovered this one. The manager told us it had been there since morning. I am always delighted to come across a luna moth, it feels like a special gift from Nature. One of the other guests asked whether it was a BAT!

  6. The Luna Moth is my spirit moth. When we got a Harley, many years ago, I couldn’t ride without a tattoo ( of course..lol), so I got a tattoo of a Luna Moth flying in front of a full moon. I have only seen one Luna Moth in Nicaragua, but many in TN. They are absolutely beautiful.

    • I can see the Luna Moth as a totem animal – it has a special kind of magic. So you were one of those biker chicks?! 🙂

      • Yes, I was. Here’s a funny story. I was teaching high school with at risk kids. One Saturday, Ron and I took the Harley out for a ride. I was dressed in my chaps and leather jacket, Harley bandana..the works. I had to stop at the grocery store and two of my students were talking biker talk with Ron in the parking lot. When I walked out of the grocery store, they yelled…”Cool biker chick, come over here.” When I got closer, they both looked at me in surprise and said, “Mrs. Goehring?” Haha. I never had any problems with them in school after that day.
