Minimalism (II)

Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a fascinating city to visit. The Old Town district is full of interesting architecture, stores competing for customers with beautiful displays and riotous colors, and museums and structures attesting to the city’s historical roots.
However, given the “minimalist” theme of this week’s photo challenge, I have chosen several images which feature one main subject conveying a distinct mood or feeling.

An empty bench against the backdrop of an orange wall awaits the next tired pedestrian in need of a brief rest:

Minimalist only in that one color is predominant, the decorations and striking blue color of these doors make for strong impact:

A single decorative tile embedded in a house wall draws attention:

A girl is about to enter the gates to her school projecting expectancy and positive energy:

While further down the street, an old woman walks slowly with a cane, eyes downcast, not expecting much from this day:

Nearby, a sycamore tree with colorful bark grows out of the sidewalk, firmly grounded:

A pigeon observes it all from above, silently:

Altogether, their minimalism produces a rich mosaic of my morning stroll through Old Town Albuquerque that day:

  2. I love New Mexico. You’r photos bring it to life perfectly. For the minimalist challenge, my favorite is the bench against that tangerine wall. My brother lives in the Rocky Mountains in an old adobe house and he has painted all his handmade doors blue.

I follow others who posted minimalist pictures. While they were all very good and interesting, yours really made we understand what it was. I love the blue shots. 🙂

    • Thank you, Lady. Of course, I put my own twist on the interpretation of minimalism; different from the WordPress description. But that’s the beauty of the creative blogging sphere – we make it suit our own tastes and artistic inclinations.
