The first scout showed up in the morning. I had not seen them at the bird feeder until now but often heard their distinctive screeching calls in the woods.
Suddenly, the pergola was a blur of blues, maybe 15 birds altogether. The entire tribe had descended.
They never sat still for long and were quite skittish about being photographed. Since I didn’t dare change my lens to take in the whole clan, I focused more on individuals, their poses and feather patterns. I enjoy their bright blue feathers, reminiscent of summer skies and white clouds.
