Late autumn,
past prime for fall foliage,
in the higher elevations.
Yet,
the brilliant afternoon sun
weaves the remaining leaves
into a breathing, heaving tapestry.

You know, I am beginning to realize that myself, especially this year. While I was waiting for “peak”, I realized, like you said, that each stage had its own charms; even, now, the post-peak period.

I lived in breathtaking northern California for a while. Ultimately, I realized I craved autumn and moved back east. Now, while winter increasingly hems in in, I revel in fall.
