Late autumn,
past prime for fall foliage,
in the higher elevations.
Yet,
the brilliant afternoon sun
weaves the remaining leaves
into a breathing, heaving tapestry.

You know, I am beginning to realize that myself, especially this year. While I was waiting for “peak”, I realized, like you said, that each stage had its own charms; even, now, the post-peak period.

I lived in breathtaking northern California for a while. Ultimately, I realized I craved autumn and moved back east. Now, while winter increasingly hems in in, I revel in fall.

Some days are crystal clear, sky blue as can be, and whatever color remains just seems to be vibrating with aliveness. Easy to be filled with gratitude on those days 🙂
