This winter, I have noticed grasses more than ever before. In this picture, the tall grasses clearly demarcate the foreground from the mid-ground and background. The tan color sets them nicely apart from the greyish river and the dark green pine trees and the far blue mountain in the background.
The curve of the river forms another pleasing juxtaposition to the flat fields it is traversing and the horizontal expanse of the mountains behind it.
Also, there is a hint of motion in the tall grasses as the wind is rustling through them, while everything in the background seems to be static.
I am not done yet with the Juxtaposition theme….more to come 🙂
The theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge is “Juxtaposition.” Michelle invites us to share images that show “the act of placing things side by side, especially for the purpose of comparison or contrast.”
Beautiful!

It’s a lovely place. I am planning to photograph that river valley from the same vantage point as we progress into spring and summer… should be interesting to see the progression.
