We are drawn to shiny, glittery things, fascinated by the light reflections:
We especially like shiny silver and go to great length to decorate ourselves with it:
Even Mother Nature splashes us with silver lights:
And not only human hair turns silver as it ages:
Our architectural structures like to sparkle and glitter, too:
And our artists are drawn to silvery expressions:

The gorilla! What a shot is that! And so many lovely sparklies. And yes, it will be my Silver Wed this year too.

The gorilla came from an Arts Festival in Charlottesville, VA where they suspended these incredibly beautiful animal canvasses high up in the trees. It was quite a sight!
Congrats on your silver anniversary, Jo!

You aren’t going for the Omani old silver jewelry? π

Oh yes, Annette, the Omani silver jewelry is beautiful; I guess I saw so much of it in Oman, and it never appealed to me because of its weight, that I just went right past it. I do love looking at ancient jewelry in museums, but I always gravitate to the more delicate pieces. π

I heard some of these pieces weigh several pounds and used to be worn by women even when working in the fields. Don’t know whether that is different in more modern Oman?

I never saw any modern day women wearing those necklaces, Annette. They all are dressed in the latest fashion under those abayas!

So things have changed considerably in the last 30 yrs. My friend said that these necklaces were being melted down to make way for more modern styles….

I wonder if they are being melted down? I saw them all over in the souqs, but I bet none were selling except as decorative items, to hang on walls perhaps. That would have been a nice keepsake, come to think of it. Oh well, I guess if they never sell, they will only be found in museums eventually.

I liked your selection of shots and your silvery dialogue to go with it. π My favourite might be the silver orb at the beginning, or the ice coated trees, or the silver orb of a building …
